With Halloween coming up tomorrow, I’m sure some of you are planning last minute party treats for the kiddies so I want to share a recipe (one that doesn’t call for a martini shaker. GASP!) that was a big hit with our brood.
If you need something quick and palate pleasing, not to mention slightly revolting and a bit slimy, to dress up your Halloween spread, I suggest you try Frogspawn Jelly (Jell-O) from the Shrek Cookbook.
Yes it is aesthetically disgusting - that’s the whole point. Just channel Morticia Addams and dive right in. The recipe couldn’t be simpler… even I got it right.
Ingredients
• One 3oz (85g) package lemon Jell-O powder
• Four ripe passion fruit (or you can use 1/2 cup of raisins, dried cranberries, or milk chocolate chips)
1. Put the Jell-O powder in a glass, heatproof bowl and prepare according to the instructions on the package. Place in the fridge for about 30 minutes to set a little.
2. If you are using passion fruit, slice each one in half and use a spoon to scoop the insides out into a bowl. If you are using raisins, cranberries, or chocolate chips, skip to the next step.
3. When the Jell-O has set a little, add the passion fruit (or raisins, cranberries, or chocolate chips) and stir. Put the Jell-O into the serving bowls and leave them in the fridge to set.
*makes approximately four servings.
