Is Anyone REALLY For Women?

tagged , , , , , , and

I read an infuriating post over at Queen of Spain yesterday. After getting the blow-by-blow on the hassle she’s been through inviting, re-inviting, and re-inviting Presidential Candidates to answer the BlogHer Voter Manifesto questions, I’m fairly convinced that none of our Presidential Candidates really take women or our votes seriously.

The Queen’s been at this for ages and after three rounds of invitations, BlogHer’s “been told no, both in words and in actions, as have some other women’s blogs and political groups” . No one has agreed to answer the questions on-camera. Despite the offer “to fly to the U.S. location of the candidate’s choice and be interviewed for 15 minutes by a member of her or his own political party, by either Editor Morra Aarons or Editor Mary Katharine Ham”. Worse yet, no one has agreed to answer the questions in print.

Meanwhile we have Hillary bringing her “Mother and Chelsea to Iowa” and Barack launching “Women for Obama”. So they at least acknowledge the existence of female voters on some level. And yet they and the majority of the Candidates refuse to give BlogHer or the 7.6 million BlogHer readers the time of day.

The Queen of Spain is annoyed - and waiting. I’m infuriated. What are you?

………………………..
P.S. You can go here to take the BlogHer survey on how Presidential Candidates should earn women’s votes.

So You Want to be the Next Oprah?

show_host_newAnother cool tip I leaned at the podcasting conference I attended last week (facilitated by Jody Colvard and Declan Dunn) was that folks are still pretty forgiving if the quality of any video you put on your blog is not the greatest.

But folks are much more picky about audio, especially if you want your podcast to be promoted in places like iTunes.

The good news is, there are ways to create a polished, professional sounding audio without breaking the bank. In fact with a decent microphone plugged into your computer (USB gives better sound quality than through the microphone jack) and a great piece of software called Audacity (and it’s free), you can create a good sounding talk show.

So watch out world, here I come…

This is CrankMama coming to you from Chico, California and the Fun Money Good Podcasting Conference, “Be A Show Host“. Watch out Oprah, here I come!

That’s right friends, CrankMama Radio is ready for a total facelift and I’m here to find out how. Or to be more precise, Elizabeth (my technical expert) is here to find out how while I chat up the other participants.

There are some cool peeps here and we’re all excited about having fun, making money and doing good using blogging and podcasting.

Right now Jody Colvard (founder of Women In Podcasting) is sharing all the lovely (and inexpensive or free) new gadgets and software that makes it easy to add video to our blogs. For example, Vlog It can make your videos look really professional for under $29.

More to come, but it’s break time now so I’m off to schmooze.
