I was bouncing around reading bits and pieces of interesting news today and came across this gem.
Six people were injured in Shedfield, Southampton by EXPLODING FONDU. I kid you not.
Apparently, the oil in a gas powered fondue set exploded on Thursday evening seriously injuring three people on their hands, faces and arms while three others suffered minor injuries.
As sad and unusual as this story is, I have to confess that on some level it makes me feel a bit better. Misery does love company and it’s encouraging to know that it’s not just me. Other people are just as disastrous in the kitchen as I am.
In fact, this story proves that some of them are even MORE disastrous than I am. To the best of my knowledge, while pizzas and blenders have sustained serious (sometimes fatal) injuries in my kitchen, people have always walked away relatively unscathed. Hungry in body and disappointed in spirit perhaps but completely physically intact. And that just has to count for something.
