I read an infuriating post over at Queen of Spain yesterday. After getting the blow-by-blow on the hassle she’s been through inviting, re-inviting, and re-inviting Presidential Candidates to answer the BlogHer Voter Manifesto questions, I’m fairly convinced that none of our Presidential Candidates really take women or our votes seriously.

The Queen’s been at this for ages and after three rounds of invitations, BlogHer’s “been told no, both in words and in actions, as have some other women’s blogs and political groups” . No one has agreed to answer the questions on-camera. Despite the offer “to fly to the U.S. location of the candidate’s choice and be interviewed for 15 minutes by a member of her or his own political party, by either Editor Morra Aarons or Editor Mary Katharine Ham”. Worse yet, no one has agreed to answer the questions in print.

Meanwhile we have Hillary bringing her “Mother and Chelsea to Iowa” and Barack launching “Women for Obama”. So they at least acknowledge the existence of female voters on some level. And yet they and the majority of the Candidates refuse to give BlogHer or the 7.6 million BlogHer readers the time of day.

The Queen of Spain is annoyed - and waiting. I’m infuriated. What are you?

P.S. You can go here to take the BlogHer survey on how Presidential Candidates should earn women’s votes.

Hell yes. Mad as well. The only thing we can come up with is that they are focused on NH and Iowa. That being said, Obama has been the closest to committing thus far, and we nearly had Hillary one weekend in NH. However, everyone else has yet to even respond. Well, some republican reps have been talking to Mary Katharine Ham, but none is giving a date. Or time. Or YES.

    Very annoying.

It’s making me crazy. For some reason that line from Fatal Attraction’s Alex Forrest keeps running through my mind, “I won’t be ignored…” Imagine if we all had that attitude in mind when it’s time to vote, you know, without the crazy part.

Thank you CrankMama! I appreciate so much your support for this initiative. The polls are still open and I’m really excited to see so many women demanding a conversation.
